I think Eugyppius is onto something with the distinction between grammatical gender in most IE languages, versus only semantic gender in English. When gender is just a noun type, it's harder to use it as a specific weapon. When language distinguishes male humans from female humans cleanly, with no slopover into other categories, it's easier for the subjugators to hammer on this point.

I think the complexity of noun cases is also relevant. Languages with very little noun morphology seem more susceptible to the Woke stuff. Synthetic languages like Russian are less susceptible, and agglutinatives like Turkish are hardest to confuse.
